The history of pepper is a tale as old as time, with its first usage recognised to be dated as far back as 2,000 B.C., whilst pepper plantations in Vietnam were found to had been established in the early 17th century. Since the late 20th century, Vietnam had undergone rapid transformations to become the world’s top black pepper producer, taking up 35% of the total global supply.

The most well-known peppercorn is black pepper, extracted from the peppercorn plant known as Piper Nigrum. However, there are, at least 5 other types of pepper variations ranging from white, green, pink and red peppercorns. Each with different sub-varieties and taste profiles. Currently, pepper plantations are scattered across the provinces of Binh Phuoc, Vung Tau, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Quang Tri and Binh Thuan with pepper harvesting cycle distributed between January to June, each year.
