Vietnamese Arabica, alike Robusta, was first introduced during the French colonisation, albeit around 1857 which was approximately 50 years earlier than the initial migration of Robusta beans. Unlike its popular sibling, however, Vietnamese Arabica only accounts for 5% to 6% of Vietnam's total coffee production each year.

The most common sub-variety of Vietnamese Arabica is Catimore, which is a hybrid between Timor and Caturra coffee, created to combat leaf rust and berry diseases whilst mainting a high level of yield in comparison to other Arabica varieties. Vietnamese Arabica plantations can be found well spread across Lam Dong, Son La, Dien Bien, Quang Tri and Dak Lak.
